I have been watching your so called debate on another forum. It is sad that many of those who posted supporting your idea were mostly deleted to make it appear you had no support. I personally witnessed over 10 positive posts supporting your idea, to some degree, get deleted within minutes by that sites owner. Some kind of Forum, right?
This sport is so fragmented and split right now your idea will probably never work. I can't think of any one organization that would be willing to admit they need improvement at this time. Some organizations are so hungry for lifters they are willing to simply ignore all of the rules of the sport simply to get a new lifter. A very sad situation indeed.
Personally I believe it is up to he lifters to decide where they want to lift. They will realize they have been mislead by some of these so called organizations once they finally decide to pick up a real rule book and read it. If these lifters want to believe their 1/2 squats are real Squats, so be it. If they want to believe cheating on the BP and making up rules of the sport for their own benefit makes for a good organization and lift, they will believe it.
I do appreciate your independent effort to point out the need for better rules enforcement in this sport. But the bottom line is this, until the lifters actually want to clean up this recent circus sideshow, nothing will change. If they are satisfied with doing trashy lifts and calling them "records" you or anyone else won't change their minds as long as they are on the long end of the stick. Only when they get beat using the same trashy judging and lifting will they finally complain. This will happen soon, trust me. I have witnessed this attempt to hi-jack the sport several times in the past. It doesn't last long.
NASA has always followed the basic IPF Rules of Performance since we started in 1992, 17 years ago. My meets have always enforced the these rules since I started promoting meets 35+ years ago. We don't plan to change simply to attract a few lifters who refuse to obey the rules of real powerlifting.
I wish you the best on your effort to draw attention to this very serious problem in our sport.
