Posted by sheila I am in Birmingham and managed to find my way to the library. Pray that I find my way back to the hospital. (juts kidding) I am not sure of all the meds that they have him on. The doctors here are okay, but they don't allow much time for questin and answers sessions. They also said that they were checking him for a virus call CMV that it common after kidney transplants. The last thing that the doctor said was that we did not need to worry YET. I did not like the YET part. Thank you for any help that you can give.

My husband Gregg had his transplant done on 7/30/04 at UAB in Birmingham Al. We are from the Memphis TN area. He is having some issues and I was hoping that someone here could give it to me in laymans terms or tell me it they have seen or heard of any of this happening to a transplant pt before.
We spoke with the doctor yesterday afternoon and again this morning. It seems that Gregg has hit a few bumps in the road. (this was how the doc put it). His Hematocrit levels are falling. Gregg was 23. They gave him 2 units of blood last night, we will find out later today if that corrected the problems. How low can it get? His creatinine is coming down 3.5 yesterday. But the doc is concerned about the Hematocrit, and so am I. They can't find any source of bleeding. It was 30 when we got here. Also Gregg's blood pressure keeps droping way to low, especially when he stands up. But the doc says that there are no signs of rejection and the kidney it okay!
Gregg is 34 and a type 1 diabetic. Other then the diabetes and ESRD he is fine. Heart in great shape, no other known problems.
