Posted by John on 6/1/2003, 1:18 pm, in reply to "tanning lotion" Dihydroxyacetone, one of the most common ingredients, is pretty safe since it only acts on the keratinized skin (i.e., the outermost dead skin cells, which are about ready to wear away anyhow.) Almost none of it is absorbed into the living skin layers. But its safety specifically with immunosuppressed patients has not, to my knowledge, been studied. Maybe ask a dermatologist or your transplant center. John
