Posted by Carlene I would very much appreciate hearing about your experiences after transplant. From what we heard from the doctors before the transplant, she would be playing tennis by now. I want to do all I can to help her recovery but dont' want to push her. Also, do the drugs make a person depressed? She is taking an antidepressant but just seems to not care about anything anymore. Here is a list of what she is presently taking Thanks for your time,

My sister is about 5 weeks post kidney transplant due to years of insulin dependent diabetes causing kidney failure. She is having some side effects from the drugs (shakiness, diarrea, nauseated) and is also anemic. She is still unable to do much except lie around on the couch all day. She says she feels too weak and shakey to get up and walk or do anything. Should I be forcing her to take walks or does she need more time to adjust to the new kidney and all the drugs. My sister's husband and I are both concerned that she is just "giving up" from the months of feeling so terrible. We all thought the transplant would make her feel so much better but so far we are not seeing it.
