I don't know alot about the situation your going through. I know that when my husband had his transplant last year, there was a patient from his dialysis center that was transplanted a month early. He was still inhouse when we got there and still on dialysis. Just before our release (3 weeks later) we asked how things were going for him. We were told that his kidney had just started working (about a week earlier - after discharge). I'm not sure if there were any infections or rejections involved, but the doctors told us that sometimes it just takes the kidney a time to wake up. We had simular problems with my husbands bowels & pancreas (he had a Kidney/Pancreas tx), they did not want to wake up. His pancreas didn't start working correctly until after 3 months. No major complication, but worrysome none the less.
As for the antigen match, we were also told that it didn't matter from 0-5 matches. They said the only real joy is a perfect 6 match.
Hope things start turning around for you. Remember, even in the best of situations, there are ups & downs. They don't resolve overnight. Also, we found that the doctors were not always good at answering our questions, so we looked at 2nd opinions & did research & asked more detailed questions. If they didn't answer them, we asked again. You may need to be a little pushy. Best question I found was, "ok, so where do we go from here & what should we expect in the upcoming weeks".
