Of course, I have seen more patients with their own dormant virus develop shingles than from chickenpox expousre. I don't really know that this type is very predictable, so even without exposure some people develop shingles.
Most viruses, once in your system, are never completly destroyed as many bacteria can be destroyed; they are just inactive dormant.
