Posted by Steve Johnson on 11/8/2004, 12:41 am My problem is with how this event was handled. We chased cones for over an hour and a half, as the norm for drivers to do, but never got to run. When we asked for our money back, they said "sorry, but the money has already been taken to the bank." We wasted a wounderful day, spent $25 each, and got nothing. At the SCCA general meeting, the issue of time, high car count and getting dark early was brought up by someone, Charlie Clark I think. He suggested that the start time be moved up and number of runs be limited. Now I know he has only been to one or two events in his time, but maybe someone should have listened. It looked as if there were several "newbies" at the event. Do you think they are going to show up again? Maybe, but probably not. Auto-X is a great way to get the new, young crowd involved. Events that are run like this are just going to chase people off. I'm sorry to b###h, but I do like this club and I hate to see us run off new members when the situation was totally avoidable.

Today I attended the most poorly run SCCA event I have ever attended. I showed up at Arrowhead about 8:30 am for a day of fun. I brought a friend with me who is very interested in becoming an SCCA member. There were a lot of cars , which is great. The problem is, we NEVER got to run, as it got too dark.
