Posted by Doug Hitchcock on 8/30/2004, 4:56 pm I participated in my first Crown Autocross Sunday, Aug. 29, at the KC sports complex parking lot. And while I utterly failed in my goal at class domination, I had a helluva great time and can't wait for next Monday's deal. Me and my red 1989 BMW 325i (198,985 miles on the odometer) posted four DNFs as I figured out how to read cone markers at 35-50 mph and on my fifth run I posted mid-66s. My car is dead stock, down to the original stereo, so we ran in D Stock. Comparably, guys and gals in souped up 325s posted in the low 50s. Hey, it was my first time out. What can I say? I learned a ton. All the other Bimmer drivers were incredibly cool to help me out, letting me ride along on their runs and navigating for me on a couple of my runs. Thanks to one and all. Anyway, I had a great time and hope to get faster and better next week. See you,
