Pit Bull. Help asap.

This morning a starving pit bull pup was in our yard. Its collar was embedded into its skin. We put him in our garage for now. Please send any advice on what to do. I am pretty sure all KC shelters/pounds put pit bulls to sleep. I have a full house and am unable to take him.
