Yes, and there is a big issue with corn not being an indigenous crop in every climate zone/country. Here's an example: there are at least 30 kinds of millet native to Africa (about 6 kinds here in the US)...not corn, coffee or cocoa, but millet. Attempts to grow crops that aren't native have left much of Africa, India and other nations with desert where they once had rich soil. Millet may not run cars, but it does feed the hungry!
