Thanks for your post on the Just Stop! Chat Board, Allen.
I had to re-read your question several times. Not because you didn’t express yourself well, but because the theories that the “top medical advisor” discussed with you sound very complicated and, frankly, a bit convoluted.
As I discuss in the Just Stop Eating So Much! book and in e-newsletters, etc., in my opinion there are no “tricks” when it comes to losing excess weight in a safe, healthy and effective way.
Yes, our bodies lose a certain amount of water weight when dieting -- and that water loss is often reflected on the scale during the first couple of weeks you weigh. But keeping your body hydrated with plenty of water is essential for health. So it’s important to replace any water you take off through dieting or exercise.
Also, I don’t believe in limiting certain food groups in order to (once again) trick your body into losing weight. We need nutrients from many food groups :
Grains
Fruits
Vegetables
Low-Fat Milk and Milk Products
Lean meats, Poultry and Fish
Nuts, Seeds and Legumes
To cut out a certain food group starts to sound like trickery to me.
There are no short cuts to health. No magic pills. And no tricks. Certainly some people require cutting out certain foods (yeast or wheat based food groups due to body chemistry, food allergies, etc.). But this is determined on an individual basis that needs to be discussed with a personal physician.
The real “trick” to weight loss success is reasonable food portions, nutritious food groups, exercise, drinking plenty of water and getting plenty of rest. If we take care of our bodies, our bodies will take care of us. The day I stopped looking for short cuts, was the day I began to lose my excess weight (over 250 pounds of excess weight).
