As stated in a previous post, I don’t believe in counting calories (totaling a certain number of calories for a single day) based on how I finally -- and successfully -- lost 250 pounds. Personally, I think the “calorie totals” method can get tiresome and eventually feel redundant. And it’s not altogether realistic for the busy lifestyles that we all lead. I recommend portion control and eating the right foods -- foods that your body will get vitamins, nutrients and satisfaction from. It’s about balance, not about gimmicks.
Based on your post, it seems like you’re trying to crack the mystery (or secret code) to losing weight. There is none. That is the principle that “Just Stop Eating So Much” is based on. No matter what your body type, no matter what your metabolism, no matter what your history, if you eat less and workout more, you’re going to find success. There are no tricks. You can’t eat 1,500 calories of cookies a day and succeed. It’s about healthy, balanced food choices being eaten in healthy, balanced portions -- with lots of physical activity thrown in for good measure. (As always, everyone should check with his or her doctor before beginning any life change in order to make sure they’re making the right choices based on their personal health.)
As for body muscle requiring more calories than body fat, that is usually true. But other matters factor in, based on your personal health history, metabolism, exercise routines and the different kinds of foods you are eating. (Not all calories are created equal -- this is about getting healthy, not tricking your body.)
