Hi Gregg,
Thanks for your comments!! I haven't received the book yet, I bought it off the Lulu site (they take PayPal) the night before your show, so I'll wait to ask specific questions (If I have any) after I review it first.
I just wanted to mention a few things before I start.
I've spent the last few days looking at how I regard food now, and I have to say it really shocked me! I had totally lost touch with myself, my serving sizes are out of control, WAY out of proportion to what a "Normal" person would eat.
I think part of the reason is that my Wife and I ate out so much (for years), it just became normal to eat a large portion of food at one time. Also, I tend to make the "Worst" choices in the food that I do eat, choosing Hi-Carb items instead of healthier choices.
I had even lost touch with how my body feel's when I eat, BUT that "Full" sensation that I used to feel is still there, just not as strong as it is with a normal sized person!
Today, by really concentrating on how my body felt, I could feel it, so I just stopped eating at the first twinge of feeling full, and saved the rest of my meal for dinner time. I used to just plow right on through that feeling, and clean up my plate. Not anymore, that will never happen again
The past few days, I've been paying attention to serving sizes, trying to eliminate the "Feed Bag" mentallity that I've been stuck in. It's not easy, let me tell you (well you already know LOL) I am making progress though
I'm sure everyone has there food "Horror Stories" but I wanted to share one of mine with the group.
The Dreaded SuperBowl Party feast
Every year we end up at my Brother in law's for the Super Bowl. Every year it end's up being a food feast, and this year was no exception. They did cut back a little bit as we didn't have as many people showing up as in past years, but there was still enough food to feed a platoon of starving Marines. (Everyone that attends always brings something, we always had to bring snacks and deserts)
We were told that we were having "Sloppy Joe's" so I thought that was OK, I can handle that. So, we get there, and instead of the "Joe's" they have 4 Large "bake-it-yourself" Pizza's
I'm no stranger to these things, the wife and I used to buy them on a regular basis.
I had 1 SLICE of Pizza!! (Normally I'd have eaten 4 to 6 slices) Along with a little bit of Chip's and a Veggie Dip (that the wife makes) and I drank water instead of Soda or Beer. Considering what I ate there in years past, this is a major success for me
Was it hard to pass up all that food, hell yes!! We brought a "Gourmet" cheesecake there, and I didn't even have a piece of that, something that shocked me at the time, as I'd be lothe to pass up anything that I had paid for myself, but I did it!!
I gotta say, I felt a lot better after not stuffing myself as I had in the past. In Years past, I'd be falling asleep on the couch, but not this time, I felt great, not stuffed.
I'll take you up on that belt offer
and I'll send in a "Before" pic. so you can certify it for the record.
Stop on by the NHZ forum, anytime your up late, I'm usually there every night (unless there is a topic I really hate to listen to).
Take Care,
Tom
