When I weighed over 400 pounds (and higher), I often complained to friends that I couldn't understand why I wasn't losing weight, because "I wasn't eating that much." Now, never mind that I was usually complaining over dinner or lunch (!), but I was also doing a lot of unconscious eating -- just constantly munching on something, often without realizing it. Add to this, my extremely sedentary lifestyle and you can see why I was fooling myself.
And by stating this, I'm not pointing the finger at anyone who currently might not be "in touch" with all they are eating and the fact that it *is* keeping them fat. In fact, if you check with a doctor (which everyone embarking on a new lifestyle regime should do), he or she will confirm that even with a thyroid problem, if you diet properly, you will *still* lose weight.
It's about eating less. And moving more. And being tough on yourself. What do you want? To be out of breath from walking across the room or talking on the phone (which I always was when heavy)? Or to slip on a size of clothing you thought you'd never be able to wear again? To walk or run and not feel like you need an ambulance? To eat a salad and *really* enjoy the flavors? That can be attained. It's simple math. It's about making the commitment to a life change and sticking to it.
I am so excited by your success, Dan. And I'm excited for Gloria, too. It often helps to see others who have succeeded at the Battle of the Bulge. I know Gloria has what it takes to get into a Size 8. And I want to see the before, after and during pictures when it's happening. YOU CAN DO THIS, GLORIA! Not only does Dan believe in you, but I do, too. And I don't just write that to post a chat. I BELIEVE IN YOU. Please print this out and read it every morning.
And please keep us all posted on your success. We're all in this with you. Not just Dan. Not just me. But all of us in the Just Stop! Community. This is a revolution. TOGETHER, WE CAN DO ANYTHING!
