Oh, the dreaded "work birthday." I can totally relate, Susan. I have been there and I know the dilemma. As far as I’m concerned, you have two options:
1) The fruit tray done right. Tell them you want a bunch of freshly chopped fruit -- with low fat cottage cheese and chopped walnuts. In other words, create healthy fruit Sundaes. I know it might seem less exciting than a cake, but if you follow the recipe on page 33 of Just Stop Eating So Much!, you will find it tastes incredible. Imagine the statement you’ll be making -- not only to friends, but also to yourself. That kind of dedication would be an incredible gift you give to yourself.
If that sounds unbearable, then hears another option:
2) Tell your workplace that you want cupcakes. That’s right -- cupcakes. Yes, they are decadent. Yes, they have frosting. But besides being a super popular choice for entertaining, they also arrive in SINGLE SERVING PORTIONS. In other words, you don’t have to worry how big the slice of cake is. Take your cupcake, eat the whole thing, and then STOP! Just one cupcake this one time. That’s it. Enjoy it for all it’s worth and then enjoy an apple on a later occasion.
Let us know how it goes, okay? And from everyone here: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, you beautiful thing you! ;-)
