Posted by Gregg To help with getting past the hunger without eating, there are breathing exercises you can do. You’ll be surprised how helpful the breathing exercises can be. There’s a great one on page 77 of the Just Stop Eating So Much! book that you can keep handy or memorize for when you need it. You can also find other breathing exercises at the following URL: http://cas.umkc.edu/casww/brethexr.htm Of course, there are times your body really needs to the nourishment, too. In cases like this, I suggest keeping pre-measured 1/2-cup portions of Raw Cashews (no roasting, no oil, no salt) in little plastic bags in your car or briefcase. Raw Cashews can be found at whole food type of grocery stores and even at regular markets in some cases. The protein from the peanuts will give you an “instant fill up” and help keep your tummy from grumbling while you’re counting down to your next meal. Just be sure not to eat more than the 1/2-cup portion of the Raw Cashews, because although very healthy, they are also high in calories. And when all else fails and you haven’t planned ahead? Find the nearest market and grab an apple (be sure to wash it before eating it).

This is a great question, Kim – and one that will help a lot of people. There are going to be times when you’re hungry, but dinner (or even lunch) is still a couple hours away. Remember that sometimes, it’s actually good to be hungry – especially if your goal is to lose weight (and Just Stop Eating So Much). We have to get used to short periods of hunger between meals as our stomach re-learns what proper and healthy portions are. 330
