If there were more morbid details, I am quite sure she would be protecting his/his family's deserved privacy by not releasing them to the gore-hungry public. Personally, i think the ice is pure rubbish! I highly doubt he cut a smile onto his face. I think your confusing him with the JOker. He had an open casket viewing, and no one else mentions any marks other than the rope marks being visible on his neck, which Alan Erasmus covered with his collar before his parents/wife arrived.
