You are right, Alan. Alot of people consider themselves quite taken with JD based upon one song.
I am 45 and I do not hold you in lower esteem for finding yourself within Joy Division's music, years after the fact. That is what makes this music so eternal. You didn't have to 'be there' at a certain time to experience an emotional connection to music that touches in such a very deep and silent place. I was born well past a century after Mozart was long dead and buried. His music resonates within my heart. Therefore I am a 'fan'.
Joy Division holds a uniquely special place in my life not only because it marks one period in time that I connect to (being in my late teens/early 20's, filled with nihilim and much raw emotion)but because the music has endured for me. It is a life soundtrack.
