Am new to this site, have just seen the movie "control" and it has intrigued me, also superb acting. My question is; how close to Ian's real life was this movie? Is it accurate? I remember their songs now (vaguely), but was not really old enough, so remember dancing in niteclubs(underage!) more to New Order, in the late 1980's, very big then(Auckland, New Zealand).
Did Ian actually suffer from clinical depression, or was it more a combination of uncontrolled epilepsy, and a confusing love life, where he was torn between security of a marriage & family, and swung to the novelty and passion of an affair? It also appeared he didn't handle the fame and extent of the band that well. Did he feel like his life was out of control? What happened to his real wife(Debbie)? and Natalie (daughter)? and Annik? Any info/opinions?
