Hi Christy, I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the film raising awareness about despression. In an interview with the Guardian Natalie Curtis's main reservation with the film was that it didn't go far enough in showing the extent of Ians' mental health problems. (heres the interview if you are interested http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,,2181041,00.html) Without seeing the film as yet I have no opinion on this, but essentially we are dealing with a biopic (it may well be excellent in those terms) but I'm certainly more than willing to listen to Natalies reservations out of pure respect. It's a good point that you make and every little helps with awareness but I have a feeling that people who are interested may have to read between the lines with Control a little. We'll see.
