I just finished re-reading Debbie Curtis' "Touching from a distance" after
a 6 month stay in a phsyciatric hospital suffering from depression & unknow fears.
(Again)I was frustrated by the cold attitude of many people surrounding Ian.
Even though I experience for 15 years now the same indifferent attitude of the general people towards those who suffer from psychic problems. "He's just weak", "He imagines things to avoid responsibility" etc... The usual stuff people say in this oh so "competitive" society. You get more pity when you break a leg, because people see the plaster. "Where will it end?" sang Ian. I'm persuaded that it will never end as long as evil persons like Tony Wilson will crowd these world. They rather exploit people for their own benefit than help people or even just try to understand those with psychic problems. As long as those creatures exist we (who suffer) will try to escape this ego-world.
