Yeah, its about homosexuality but i think Ian was more interested in the aspect beeing an outsider in a very traditional society and the struggle and disability to come up to expectations. He was a very compassionate and sensitive person with a keen interest in human grief. I dont think he was afraid of being gay but who knows? By the way, Mishima committed suicide in 1970
