What's the definition of mental illness? He might have been so sane that he could see this world for what it is, a kind of hell. We can make it heaven by loving nature and feeling gratitude for the joys we do have instead of always wanting stuff. Ian wasn't mentally ill. He was just lost and overwhelmed. He couldn't see beyond his own problems. Perhaps he didn't want to. The mad people live in little boxes and go to to boring jobs everyday, working always working, for small pleasures like booze and fags and 2 weeks a year in Benidorm,
