Posted by Quilter St Resident on August 20, 2002, 3:52 pm We've tried a few tactics, the most effective are: 1. If you have a car, park it on the opposite side of Quilter St, along the Green. The kids won't park on the side of the street with houses, which means that they will park elsewhere. (or at least not opposite your house which can at least make their presence more bearable). 2. Go outside and ask them to lower their stereos/keep their voices down. My husband and I take turns doing this, and generally the kids are quite polite and responsive. Sometimes they even leave within a few minutes of being asked to quiet down. I think its important for residents to ask them to be quiet so that they realise how disruptive they actually are. Otherwise, they seen to forget that people actually live here! I hope these suggestions will help! If anyone else has any ideas I'd love to hear them!
We also live on Quilter St right opposite the Green and have also found the noise levels quite annoying and disruptive.
I find it rather a relief to read your posting since we often feel like we are the only residents who notice the noise or are interested in doing anything about it.
