The green almost NEVER has any local children in it, and instead is taken over by teenage boys who drive over in cars and create a lot of noise and leave behind rubbish. I think the people who were against the proposal are forgetting the positive impact that it could have on the area, allowing young couples and families to stay in the area and form a real community -rather than having to move further out after a few years into a larger property elsewhere. I'm disappointed to hear that the planning application was refused. I was really hopeful that the application would be able to set a precedent allowing more families to live in the area by being able to create the necessary space to live in.
originally built to house families and its essential not to be 'precious' about them but rather to appreciate that times have changed and the needs of the local house-owners have evolved with the times. Do we want 'real' people to live here or just act as a 'holding' place for people until they have families and are forced to move on?
