James Barbour received entrance applause!
He then proceeded to give a thrilling, Tony Award winning performance as the lovable drunken rogue, Sydney Carton. And the screams for him at the final curtain were ear-piercing.
This, I suppose, is why he wasn't replaced following his recent scrape with scandal. I just can't imagine who could replace him, having now seen the wonderful performance he gives (and SINGS!)
