I was at Sutton Foster and Delta Burke's final performance in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and was extremely fortunate to have scored 6th row dead-center seats at the very last minute that morning. We were sitting in front of composer Jeannine Tesori and got to hear all her stories about how the show came together in LaJolla...but the most memorable moment was after intermission.
We were sitting about one seat down from Dixie Carter (who was replacing Delta Burke) and during intermission she saw someone she knew and went to sit by them...just before the second act began she came over the end of the row and was like, "Excuse me..." and we turned to look at her and she went on to ask, "Honey, could you pass me my mink?" She was just so southern about it. We dutifully scooped it up and passed it down the row to her...
Don't think that moment could have happened anyplace but New York!
