Well, CSC models are made of multipiece pewter alloy castings and they require a great deal of handwork relative to the mostly monobloc metal and resin castings used by many other producers. Pewter runs hot, and that limits mould life, but the producers feel the alloy used produces very sharp edges and fine details. Hand painting, rigging, railings -- they all add intenese labor costs, and thus these models are more expensive to produce than most. However, the quality is there, be it in a small Carat sailing ship or a big tanker like the Stena Germanica. And on the larger scale models, such as the Nuwerk -- the details are amazing. CSC & Carat models stand out, and while one cannot say they are cheap -- they certainly are impressive! I'll leave it to others to justify the relative merits of CSC vs other lines -- for I am happy with most. Albatros offers a great bang for your buck, while Optatus' SX re-releases are excellent. And while CM models may not be painted as fully as some, they are very clean good casting that compare well with many products. Yeah, I like them all. But when I see the same ship modeled by different companies beside each other -- well, my choice is obvious...

: Nice that costs were "reduced" but
: $311.50/WL isn't exactly economical.
