Oh I agree that the percentage of cruisers that care about the ship is somewhat small. But if 1 person out of 2000 on each ship bought a model per trip, that is still 52 models sold a year. Considering most cruise ships these days are at least sister ships, if not members of a class of up to 8, then you can multiply that general design by 3 to 4. So now you are talking about 150-200 models of a given design selling in a year at a minimum. And there is always a replenished audience on board every year. I do not think that people would buy a $200.00 model, but if someone could make a nice medium quality $45-50.00 model (like the Dragon Waves Carnival Spirit), I think it could sell as well as the crappy $25.00 models they currently sell on board do. And those do seem to sell pretty well from my cruise experience (at least 20 a sailing as they are sold out at the end of each trip). An example of what is currently sold on board.
