That to me has been one of the big problems with these kinds of sites. I've been watching them come and go for over 10 years. So many I don't remember all of them. Orkut, Myspace, Linkedin and so on. People stayed until something better came along or they started trying to wring some money out of users. And realistically if Twitter was charging I wouldn't be trying it.
But I will say this- with the current stay of the economy and the level of sales to current collectors everyone better hope that we attract some new blood to the hobby. The downturn is putting a lot of pressure on the manufacturers and dealers. It seems to have accelerated what everyone suspected was coming as older collectors either stop collecting or dump their collections on the market. Tomorrow we lose Bille as they close down for good. Before this is over I'm positive we will lose more manufacturers and a few dealers as well.
