I have their 1992 list. No where on the list does it represent that any model is a copy of a particular brand, although one who is familiar with Comet, Framburg, Star, Delphin, Triang,Hansa and other makers can figure out what is what. I personally knew Hal Reynolds back in the 1960's before he started MM. He owned a hobby shop in Evanston Ill., was actually into lead soldiers at the time, but got interested in the ships because of another friend, Cy Broman. He and Cy started HR products in the mid 1960's spin casting all sorts of parts for model soldiers, and for ship modelers. They tried casting some ship models in both resin and metal but soon gave that up. I have one of the few models that they did produce, a U.S. 4 piper. Sometime in the early 1970's they split up and Broman kept HR Products, which is still in business today. Hal started MM. So far as I know, none of his models were originals-all were copies of others' work. In some cases they were copies of models that were still in production by the manufacturers. The bulk of MM's business was not ship models, but rather doll house miniatures. After he died, I spoke to Hal's widow, who said that the ship models had always been Hal's thing, were a loss leader, and she had no knowledge about the stuff, nor any interest in keeping it going.
