That aside, there is more to Coaching than recruiting and building winning programs -- there is 'salesmenship' to the community to build the fan base. To that end we are seeing the inkling of a beginning of a time when our coaches are going to get 'air time' on TV and Radio for various reasons and the exposure begins to make them and their (now winning) programs 'household' recognized commodities. If 10-20% of the community that 'recognizes' them, from these various media exposures, become fans who buy tickets, then the stands begin to fill up.
Greg Lansing has been on TV Spots for a while now for the Humane Society, something he believes in. Lately I saw Teri More, Trent Miles, & Greg Lansing with State, County and City Law Enforcement promoting that we not text and drive.
Truly, I like it. We who live within less than a 40 min. drive from Dowtown, easily lose track of the fact that our Terre Haute TV media reaches far and wide -- to Vincennes, to French Lick, to Robinson -- about a 70 mile radius in all directions except East where it collides with Indy media. So when Bill Hodges finally got to talk to Larry Bird about ISU in Terre Haute, there was some 'familiarity' there, for example.
Every brick is made of thousands of grains of clay, every building is made of thousands of bricks (the brick buildings, at least). The point is that 'exposure' is building something -- something good. I believe we'll see more and more of it as our success on the fields and courts continues; and with that exposure the growth of our fan base will be compounded.
Big times are ahead....at last !!!
