And one more time....
Indiana State University
The Reigning Champion of the Indiana University Classic Tournament since 1999.
Man, you know that's got be a thorn in the side of a bunch of IU fans.
It was a nice win for us, and is still a nice Championship to gloat over....but the loss for IU was bigger than our win. IMO, that is why the Classic tournament was canceled. Not because of attendance, not because they wanted a better warm-up schedule for the Big 10. etc....they canceled it because they never have to write, year-after-year-after year...IU is 149-1 only losing to ....can you imagine if the year was 2053 and they were still running the Classic? They would have to write before and after each game....IU is 288-1, only losing the championship to Indiana State in 1999....and not just in the Bloomington paper either...that would be published in every paper in every city in Indiana.
Can you hear the IU Dads, Moms and grandparents, etc. having to explain that only loss, decade after decade?
As it is, IU's sad and pathetic cancellation of the Classic is their only way to hide the most unthinkable and unimaginable loss of all time in IU basketball history...or at least tied with IU's losses to Cleveland State and Richmond in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
