Big Body Miles Walker, a 'project' (and we've had many in our hopes to develop a threat in the paint), can't make a bunny first half of year, ends in Valley Tournament competition being a force on offense and defense.
"We're looking for a 'Leader' ", was Coach's statement early on, and Jake Odum emerges. He was not deterred or set back by the Coach for reasons such as, too young, older players ought to step out, etc. He was unleashed to lead and led us well. And according to MVC-TV side kick (former coach) we have him "...for four more years." Maybe he meant calendar years.
An 0-5 skid caused by injuries and re-indentifying team roles and chemistry did not destroy our season. We got it going again and got it going even better than before.
We did not start hot and cool off, but every kid in the program continued getting stronger and improving in their on court minutes.
From 1-14 all did their job when on the floor. We did not lapse when a walk on came in. In fact that walk on likely made a key bucket or key free throws, or defended well or made a play.
There's much more, but it all began with recruiting, and then evolved to being Head Coach over those recruits. Such success does not just happen due to luck or coincidence. It has a cause and a reason, and it appears that the causes and reasons have a name -- Greg Lansing.
