How far back do you want to go? Trent's grandfather, Bob Lancaster, was the head coach at Brazil HS in the mid-70's. He stepped aside before his son Mitch became a varsity player. Mitch was an outstanding player at BHS with his last second driving layup through the THS defense providing the winning margin in Brazil's defeat of TH South in the afternoon game of the TH Regional in 1981. Brazil beat Cloverdale in the Regional Championship and gave state champion Vincennes Lincoln it closest game of the state tourney in Robert's Stadium the next week.
After college, Mitch served as an assistant and then became a very successful coach at Rockville for a number of years before moving to Northview as head BB coach when Jon Crooks relinquished the job. Like his father, Mitch coached for several years quite successfully winning one Pizza Hut Classic Title, One Sectional and a regional game over New Albany, and participation in the Hall of Fame Classic. He, like his father, stepped aside when Trent was ready to start varsity play. (I should add, he suffered a heart problem also so he had a medical reason to get away from the stress of coaching as well.)
