We have two redshirts becoming eligible this season, Koang Doluony and Dwayne Latham. Both are receiving complimentary comments from the coaching staff -- although such comments are always laced with conservatism because as Coach says, "You have to get them out there to see what they've really got."
At the Scramble dinner Coach complimented Koang saying, "He's only 6'7" but he has a 7' wing span and gets his hands on a lot of balls." Having a quality defender who can intimidate an Osiris Eldridge or the like can be a significant difference maker.
As for Dwayne Latham the coaches and teammates are complimenting his athleticism. On a few seconds of video from the Poland toure I saw him move around defenders seemingly effortlessly and score perfectly shot bunnies and short range jumpers. Also at the foul line he calmly drained all tosses with relaxed ease.
These kids bring 'unknown' factors to our opponents next season. Added to the returnees, one can feel good about our chances to move up from the bottom of the Valley this year. But, you have to get them on the floor to see what happens, of course.
