may once have been the Gateway but the power clearly resides in the CAA in this era.
Look at the current polls:
Richmond
Nova,
W&M
JMU
New Hampshire
UMass
etc.
Appalachian did win three straight titles dominating the SoCon but the CAA has been putting 3-4 teams into the 16 team playoff field for years and currently has a crushingly dominant position in the FCS polls. Of course teams are going to lose games when they play each other. National Champion Richmond finished in 3rd place in the CAA South Division and won two road games (over Appy State and UNI) plus the neutral site title game. The depth in the CAA is far greater than that of the MVFC, at least at this time. Of course with some coaches leaving for greener pastures, that can change in a season.
