Thornton had no chance to catch the "sun field" inside-the park homer. His approach clearly indicated that he was temporarily blinded by the sun while following the ball to the fence, thus his delayed reaction to it
after it rebounded off the top of the wall.
Tough play...

Where was the CF in "backing up" the play?
