If I recall correctly, Darcy committed to a Big Ten school -- Wisconsin comes to mind -- but when it was time to sign a letter of intent, she was offered less than a full scholarship and she told them to shove it. The commitment was for a full ride. Thanks to an aggressive coaching staff, ISU was the beneficiary.
My daughter's roommate -- the former ISU softball player -- was from San Diego and a high school classmate and friend of Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams of Miami. The two of them talked on the telephone several times during each year.
