On your next phleb day, get a CBC done immediately prior to the Phleb and note the Hematocrit and hemoglobin. Also, to help zero in on your problem, have a CBC done again immediately after the same phlebotomy and check those same values again. I'd be interested to see if your Hematocrit and/or your Hemoglobin are dropping to low values. If your Hematocrit is drawn down below 0.33 or 33% after you take out the blood, then you will be significantly effected. Therefore, you'll need to reduce the quantity that you take out. If you take 500 milliliters (approx 1/2 quart) then reduce it to 400 ml and see how you feel. Hematocrit is an important measure. The optimal value for this to be at during de-ironing is at about 0.38 or 38%. Then, once you take out 500 ml it shouldn't go below 33%. however, people are different all around. Ask your doctor about those test values on your CBC and make sure that you are not taking more blood than your system can spare. Note: I am not trained in medicine. I am just a HH patient like everyone else here. Take care Darren K
