
Posted by Nora I understand your concern with juvenile HH, however there can be other factors such as diet, and other unknown mutations that affect iron loading. My daughter at 15 had ferritin over 600 she is C282Y/C282Y and negative for juvenile HH mutation. She continues to load iron between phlebs even though she is utilizing iron for growing and menstrating. Martina may have started loading young as well. I suspect there are other women who loaded young but were underdiagnosed in the past. I think what was documented in the past will change as awareness and diagnosis increase in the future. I do agree Martina should know which mutation she has. :) Nora
