I am not a doctor by any stretch, but I've seen enough of them lately to feel qualified to respond to this! I have been to 3 specialists in the past month - one of whom is a HH expert - they all tell me the same thing - if you are diagnosed with a ferritin below 2000, your risk of organ/tissue damage is small. Still needs to be ruled out, but the risk is greater with higher ferritin readings. My sister had a reading of 4800 (mine was 1400)and after 1 year+ of phlebotomies, she is now on maintenance phlebs and has no organ damage - VERY LUCKY!! Treatment (phlebotomies) will reverse much damage, except arthritis, which will not improve, but will not deteriorate. Your heart flutters may well be completely unrelated.
