Posted by aran gordon on October 13, 2006, 10:15 pm This is not a disease we wished for...instead it is something that came as result of the body years ago trying to a good thing given the environment and circumstances. Having said that, I don't know what is in store for us with this disease and I am constantly reminded each day throughout the day that I have it...it hurts and isn't fair, but don't give up for that is what will take you to the end of "your race." Tomorrow I am going out to encouraging runners who have never run before yet they are out there attempting to achieve a goal they never thought possible...and that goal can be walking, running, bicycling or whatever you want it to be...in the movie Chariots of Fire there was a great line..."where do we find the power to see the race to its end...from within."

My name is Aran Gordon and I ran the race in the Sahara Desert again this year and I want all of you to know that I never once forgot about spreading this important message. That said, I am simply a normal person who has this terrible disease, but with all of your well wishes I was able to complete the race earlier this year...but is was so much harder than 2005...which made me dig deeper than I thought possible but with your well wishes I was able to complete the race in the top 25 percent. That said, I will never forget what I have and why it makes me so determined...yet I know what it feels like...it hurts and sometimes feels like it is impossible, but I kept trying and that is all I wish for you.
