Hi Michele,
It sounds like your hubby is on the right track and it is good that his nurse is researching HH.
As regards random intermittant hand swelling, I have never heard of such a problem being associated with HH or HH treatment, but of course every case is unique. I don't think it is a normal response to iron leaching from joints. Unfortunately joint problems can be an irreversible side effect of HH.
If I were you I'd be sure to call it to the attention of medical professionals.
