: Not my photos but it's the same doll. The
: last photo is Mattel's promotional photo and
: that's the one that made me fall in love
    : with her.

: The following year, Mattel released a
: nutcracker Barbie done in the same style. I
: bought her too when she came out.

: Not my photo of her either. One of these
: days I'll have to photograph them both.

: The first doll I bought as an adult was the
: musical Swan Lake Barbie with the the big
: stage and music box stand. I was in college
: (close enough to an adult) and working at a
: decent job, more than just my father's
: construction company (I used to be a house
: painter in the summers) so I had a little
: extra money. I saw her in the J.C. Penney's
: Christmas catalog and ordered her.
    :
: I hadn't done anything with Barbie for a few
: years. Because really, I was in college and
: that wasn't cool. But when I saw her in the
: catalog, I knew I had to have her. I had
: her shipped to my parents house and the day
: she arrived, I drove home so that I could
: open her. I was so excited! She was so
: much more than the pink box dolls that I
: could find on the store shelves and that
    : re-ignited my "Barbie spark."
    :
: After that? Well my friends and family will
: tell you that it was all downhill from there
: - in a good way, of course.
