The first doll I bought as an adult was the musical Swan Lake Barbie with the the big stage and music box stand. I was in college (close enough to an adult) and working at a decent job, more than just my father's construction company (I used to be a house painter in the summers) so I had a little extra money. I saw her in the J.C. Penney's Christmas catalog and ordered her.
I hadn't done anything with Barbie for a few years. Because really, I was in college and that wasn't cool. But when I saw her in the catalog, I knew I had to have her. I had her shipped to my parents house and the day she arrived, I drove home so that I could open her. I was so excited! She was so much more than the pink box dolls that I could find on the store shelves and that re-ignited my "Barbie spark."
After that? Well my friends and family will tell you that it was all downhill from there - in a good way, of course.
