--Previous Message-- : My mother bought herself a titian bubblecut : Barbie. My Mom had red hair, and she would : take her Barbie to the beauty salon to get : her hair cut in the bubblecut, just like : Barbie. Imagine doing this in the early : 1960's! My great aunt lived and worked in : Chicago. She had a brunette #3 ponytail : Barbie. She would take her doll to work and : stand her up in her hair dressing cubicle : room. In her place of work Goldblatts Dept. : Store, the lady had her hair done, (cut, : colored, or permed) in a cubicle with a : door. A sort of personal closet. So my : great aunt had Barbie watching. : I wanted a Barbie too (right?) "Oh no, : you are too young for a Barbie" was the : answer. I begged for months. Well, guess : what? On Christmas I received my Mom's doll : and my Great Aunt's doll along with a case : and some clothes. Boy was I a very happy : little girl. : So what happened to these two historical : dolls? : At sixteen, I gave them both away, along : with the dream house, the beauty shoppe, : more dolls and clothes, to two little girls : (sisters) as a : gift. Within one year, my carefully played : with dolls that I enjoyed, were destroyed by : them and their brother. Everything!!! : Oh well, I still have my wonderful : memories... : Barbie Your Beautiful... :

- It was nice of you to share, but so sad that they didn't treat their toys better. >> - Steph in ma 6/7/2017, 7:37 am
