: Another day, another convention doll. This is
: one of the table centerpieces from the Omaha
: convention in 1991. Like the baseball
: player last week, I bought this girl in an
: estate sale lot in the Pittsburgh area along
: with the rest of the items from this
: convention including what I've seen referred
: to as a "poof ball magic wand"
: that most hard-core convention collectors
: seem to want if they add the Omaha set to
: their collection. Most of the convention
: dolls from this set seem to have suffered
: water damage so finding a good set is hit or
: miss. The set I bought was good. Really
: need to photograph those - and that wand.
    :
: The theme for this convention was
: "Barbie Loves a Fairy Tale" and
: all of the centerpiece dolls tied into that
: theme. I missed out on the fairy godmother
: last fall, but I've seen her before and have
: hope of finding her again. Despite the way
: she looks, this is supposed to be the
: "wicked witch". The top of her
: broom broke off, but otherwise, she is
: complete, including her wrist tag and the
: tag sewn inside of her cape - both of which
: are necessary to make her an authentic
: centerpiece doll. I've never seen her in
: person before (just old photos) so I was
: surprised to find her in the estate sale.
    :
: And yes, I know she doesn't look much like a
: witch, but this is Barbie. Before Bill
: Greening, when did she ever? ;-)
