Clara is a “sample doll” and/or “test market doll” Skipper. These dolls, it is said, were given to Mattel employees in 1964 as samples. They can be differentiated from “regular” Skippers by the following: their height, their legs are slightly shorter; their JAPAN marking on their right foot is written from toe to heel (as opposed to from toe to toe); their feet are more widely separated; their hair is incredibly soft and made of a different fiber; and their head has no markings on the inner rim; and they also have slightly different feet.
Clara has unfortunately been repainted, and her bangs have been badly cut, which really is such a pity because her hair is so thick, soft and incredible, no matter I love her anyways!
Clara is...
...new in the neighborhood! Charlotte recently befriended her while playing outside and they have quickly become the best of friends.
...a bit of mystery. The only one who knows anything about Clara is Charlotte. When AJ asked Charlotte about Clara’s parents, Charlotte said that she didn’t ask about her parents, so no one knows much about Clara and her family.
...a happy-go-lucky child, in fact, she has the same sunny disposition as Charlotte, so it is no mystery that they quickly became fast friends.
...born on August 7th.
...very gifted, she is an excellent ballet dancer, and can play several instruments.
...a child actress, and has been in several T.V. commercials.
...a sleep walker.
...a recent resident of the suburbs of New Amsterdam.
