--Previous Message-- : : : : : : For those of you who have been following the : story of Scooter, the baby Betta Ed and I : rescued from Petco, I have an update. : : Two months ago, Scooter became sluggish, so : we treated him with antibiotics and he : seemed to recover. He started developing : hints of blue in his tail and along his : body, though he still remains mostly a muddy : brown color. Last week, he became sluggish : again, so he's back on antibiotics, a : different one this time, and we're hopeful : that this will do the trick. Our next step : is the fish equivalent of the human drug : Cipro and we don't want to go that route and : it can be harmful if misused. Still, we : want to give Scooter a fighting chance. He : recovered once and we're hoping he can do it : again. This morning he's resting on his : plant, so we're hopeful. I'll try to get a : picture of him later on. He's still not : very big and does like to hide a lot. : : I know Petco has that new promotion with the : dog saying that "pets come first" : or some other nonsense and while that may : apply to dogs, cats and other furry : critters, it doesn't really apply to their : fish. Scooter should never have been : removed from his incubation tank and sold on : a frigidly cold store shelf in the middle of : January. : : Meanwhile, Missy continues to enjoy the good : life: : :
